Graduates earn 953 degrees, certificates from Northeast Community College


About 19.2 percent of the 953 degrees and certificates handed out by Northeast Community College in 2017-18 were to students in health professions and related programs, making them the most popular programs that year, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The agency's National Center for Education Statistics shows the public institution in Norfolk conferred 141 associate's degrees and 42 certificates in health professions and related programs.

But the single most popular program was for a associate's degree in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies. Data shows the school gave out 63 associate's degrees in liberal arts and sciences/liberal studies, followed by 53 certificates in architectural drafting and architectural cad/cadd and 48 associate's degrees in pre-nursing studies.

The college enrolled 5,086 students for 2017-18, all of whom were enrolled in undergraduate programs.
