Cost of college went up for all students at the University of Nebraska at Omaha


In-state tuition and fees rose 2.1 percent for 2018-19 at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Nebraska residents paid $7,790 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $160 more than the $7,630 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 166.5 percent more than residents this year, or $20,764. Their price tag grew 2.2 percent from $20,320 in 2017-18.

About 87 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Nebraska residents. About 10 percent are residents of other states and 3 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 87 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,310 students received grants or scholarships totaling $9 million and 823 students took out student loans totaling more than $4.4 million.

Including all undergraduates (15,431), 7,949 students used grants or scholarships totaling $68.8 million, and 5,026 students took out $31.8 million in federal student loans.
